4th Annual Kids and Cops Basketball Game Saturday, March 2nd, 2019
For the 4th year in a row, Fit Oshkosh will host its annual Kids and Cops Basketball Game. This year the game will take place Saturday, March 2nd at the University of Oshkosh Albee Gymnasium. This game is targeted towards Youth of Color in the community, but all students between grades 6 to 12 are welcome to attend regardless of their racial identity.
This event is designed to provide a platform for open and honest conversations about Youth of Color and Law Enforcement engagement and safety throughout our region.
Participation is free, but registration is required. During the day, youth and officers get a chance to enjoy a game of basketball and participate in awareness-raising, relationship-building activities.
The program hopes to reinforce youth and police working together, sharing responsibilities, and creating partnerships within our community. All programs will be facilitated by certified Fit Oshkosh Racial Literacy Educators.
So keep your calendars open for Saturday, March 2. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Send an email to email@example.com to learn more. The event starts promptly at 10a and will end at 3:30 p.m.
Youth should bring athletic shoes and bottoms to participate. A t-shirt for the day will be provided. Refreshments are also available. This year's sponsors include: Insight Eye Care, Ebony Vision, Inc., Dr. Shawn Robinson, author of Dr. Dyslexia Dude, and the Dr. Eric's Smiltneek Healthy Student Fund of the Oshkosh Community Foundation.
