The Intercultural Development Inventory™ (IDI) is a valid and reliable assessment of an individual or group’s ability to exercise intercultural competence. The IDI is based on Milton Bennett’s Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS) and research conducted by Mitchell Hammer. The inventory has been used successfully since 1998 in corporate, academic, and other settings to focus individual coaching and action-planning, to guide multicultural team development, and to conduct program evaluation and other research.
FIT OSHKOSH, Inc. provides small and large group training sessions to employee groups and individuals to support implementation of developmental action plans derived from participation in the IDI assessment and consultation.
Individual Profiles and Developmental Plans for the IDI are available for the purpose of increasing self-awareness and understanding one’s own developmental stage of intercultural sensitivity, to prepare oneself for more effective interaction in a culturally diverse setting, and to identify ways to enhance one’s multicultural or intercultural skills. Individual administration and follow up interpretation of the IDI are conducted in a face-to-face, phone or web-based context(based on individual need) across at least two to three sessions.
